CEO Masatsuna Ogi Speaks at “Niigata Prefecture × LiSH Co-Creation Event: Discovering New Possibilities Connecting Niigata and Takanawa”

On September 4, 2026, Masatsuna Ogi, Representative Director and CEO of UPCYCLE Technologies Inc., took the stage at the “Niigata Prefecture × LiSH Co-Creation Event: Discovering New Possibilities Connecting Niigata and Takanawa,” held at LiSH TAKANAWA GATEWAY, where he delivered a pitch introducing the company’s business and initiatives.

The event was organized to promote interaction and co-creation between startups based in Niigata Prefecture and companies in the Tokyo metropolitan area. More than eight startups from “Regional Nexus Hub Niigata,” a startup ecosystem hub designated by the Cabinet Office, participated in the event, representing a wide range of fields including environmental solutions, resource circulation, healthcare, and food.

The program featured presentations on initiatives led by Niigata Prefecture and related organizations, startup pitches, and booth-style networking sessions. Participants exchanged ideas on a variety of themes, including regional demonstration projects, collaboration with local governments, research and technology partnerships, food tech, ESG, and carbon credits.

During the pitch, UPCYCLE Technologies introduced its resource circulation business, which utilizes the company’s proprietary catalytic low-temperature carbonization technology to convert organic waste, such as food and agricultural residues, into biochar at approximately 130°C. The company also presented its distributed resource circulation model, which aims to process and valorize waste at or near the point of generation, thereby reducing the burden associated with waste transportation and treatment while promoting the local utilization of the resulting biochar.

The event provided a valuable opportunity to introduce UPCYCLE Technologies’ technology and business to companies and other stakeholders in the Tokyo metropolitan area, while also fostering new connections that may lead to future demonstration projects and business collaborations.

UPCYCLE Technologies will continue to expand collaboration with companies, local governments, research institutions, and other partners as a startup originating from Niigata, while advancing the social implementation of its vision to “build infrastructure that transforms waste into resources.”
