On August 27, 2026, Masatsuna Ogi, Representative Director and CEO of UPCYCLE Technologies Inc., participated in “The Next Conference for a City of Entrepreneurs,” held in Moriyama City, Shiga Prefecture, and delivered a pitch on the company’s subsidized project selected by the city.
The event was organized by Moriyama City to promote interaction and collaboration among entrepreneurs, businesses, and other stakeholders in the region, with the aim of creating new business opportunities and fostering co-creation.
As one of the selected project operators, Ogi introduced the outline of UPCYCLE Technologies’ initiative in Moriyama City and its future development plans. The company is working to establish a local resource circulation model that converts organic waste generated in Moriyama City, including food and agricultural residues, into biochar at approximately 130°C using its proprietary catalytic low-temperature carbonization technology.
Through continued demonstration projects and collaboration with Moriyama City, UPCYCLE Technologies will work to promote the effective use of underutilized local resources, reduce the environmental impact associated with waste treatment, and advance the social implementation of a sustainable regional circular model.
