Career Lecture on Upcycling and Resource Circulation Held at Niitsu Daini Junior High School

Takami of UPCYCLE Technologies Co., Ltd. recently delivered a career lecture at Niitsu Daini Junior High School in Niigata, introducing students to the concepts of upcycling and the circular economy while sharing how innovation can help address environmental challenges.

During the session, Takami explained the concept of upcycling—transforming waste materials into products of higher value—and discussed the importance of creating a circular economy that makes effective use of limited natural resources. Students also had the opportunity to see and handle UPCYCLE Technologies’ bio-based plastic products made from recycled coffee grounds, experiencing their unique texture and aroma firsthand while learning how everyday waste can be transformed into valuable new materials.

Drawing on personal experiences, Takami also spoke about the importance of building meaningful relationships and having the courage to embrace new challenges. The session encouraged active discussion, with students enthusiastically asking questions and exchanging ideas.

Many students commented that it was their first time hearing the term “upcycling.” They also asked thoughtful questions such as, “What can we do to contribute?” and “How can we support resource circulation in our daily lives?” Their curiosity and engagement demonstrated a growing awareness of environmental issues and highlighted the importance of empowering young people to take action.

UPCYCLE Technologies believes that fostering environmental awareness among the next generation is essential to building a sustainable future. The company remains committed to promoting the value of resource circulation and creating educational opportunities that inspire young people to become active participants in a circular economy.
