PNH Co., Ltd. Launches Food Waste Upcycling Pilot Project in Malaysia Using our Catalytic Low-Temperature Carbonization Technology

We are pleased to announce that its proprietary Catalytic Low-Temperature Carbonization System, developed to upcycle food waste into valuable resources, will be utilized in a new demonstration project in Malaysia.

The project, implemented by PNH Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Niigata, Japan; CEO: Masatsuna Ogi), has been selected for the “Future-Oriented Co-Creation Project for the Global South (Small-Scale Demonstration / Third Call)” by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). Grant funding has been officially approved.

In this pilot initiative, the system will be installed in Malaysia to demonstrate the local conversion of food waste into carbonized materials—effectively turning waste into a reusable resource. The process is based on UPCYCLE Technologies’ unique Catalytic Low-Temperature Carbonization System technology.

This demonstration represents a new approach to tackling food waste issues in Malaysia by offering a sustainable, low-impact solution for waste recycling. The project also aims to assess the feasibility of broader implementation in Malaysia and potential expansion into other ASEAN countries.
