The event “SDGzoo – Learning about SDGs at the Zoo”, organized by The Mainichi Newspapers, was held at Tobu Zoo on November 15 and 16. The event aimed to help visitors learn about environmental conservation, educational support, and other SDG-related initiatives through hands-on experiences and to inspire broader awareness and empathy.
As part of our commitment to contributing to a sustainable society, our company provided sponsorship by offering upcycled products from our brand at the event’s exhibition booth.
The products sold were three items made using “coffee bio-plastic,” a sustainable new material derived from used coffee grounds:

These products are lightweight, durable, and reusable—traits that highlight their sustainability. They exemplify how waste materials can be transformed into valuable resources, demonstrating the practical appeal and significance of upcycling.
During the event, we received many positive comments from visitors, such as:
- “I didn’t know coffee grounds could be turned into cups—what a great initiative!”
- “How exactly are these cups made?”
- “They’re so light and stylish, and I love that they don’t scratch easily.”
We were encouraged by the high level of interest in SDG initiatives and the strong appreciation expressed for both the environmental concept and the product quality.
All proceeds from product sales were donated to Tobu Zoo.
This event provided a valuable opportunity for many people to discover the value and potential of upcycling.
Going forward, we will continue our activities to contribute to the SDGs, with the aim of realizing a sustainable society.
